bits & bobs | february

Oh, the weather outside is frightful! But inside it's quite delightful! ... Okay, so wrong time of year (just) but the sentiment still stands. Since the heavy snow, repeated blackouts and inability to purchase carbohydrates in the form of crisps due to ice on the roads, we've had almost nothing but downpours of rain interspersed by the odd hailstorm. To be frank, it's very very wet outside. And when it's miserable outside I'm all about colour. Wait, that's not quite right. When it's miserable outside, I'm about all the colour (as you can see from above). Nothing's cheerier than oodles of brights, and I'm trying to introduce more colour to my wardrobe, seeing as I've failed to bring any to my house just yet.

My wood burning stove should be installed (keep your fingers crossed the chimney draws properly!) by the end of the week. Eek! So I need a log basket and some great books to curl up with. The first hasn't really left my side for months now, and the second is an amazing series I first read as a kid but re-read at least once a year because it's so good.

How awesome is that fox bag? I need to sort out a more cheery and weather appropriate dog walking outfit, and I figured what better across the body bag could there be than a foxy one? With the amount of rain we're getting I could do with a cheery pair of short wellies to cope with the puddles as we amble about the village. And a lovely trench to keep me dry, covering up my bright and happy wardrobe. How do you cope with the weather?

That bag is the cutest! Hope your chimney´s on your side, curling up with a good book infront of the fire sounds perfect on a miserably wet and gloomy day.

Just recently, the flower shops started filling up with spring flowers, and soon I will fill up our place with those same flowers. Brightly colored tulips, ranunculus and roses are a great source of joy on a gloomy day! :-)

I love that bag, love love love! Chimney is down, all fixed (so quick and easy this time!) and I am looking forward to getting my downstairs finished hopefully by the end of the week. Eek!

Oooh, flowers, I must do that this year, I bet your house looks and smells so lovely with all the flowers! :)

When we bought our house the first thing we did was put a wood burner in as I knew we'd run out of money pretty quickly and didn't want to sacrifice that! So we now have a pretty grim bathroom but a lovely warm fireplace. And I'm happy with that. X

Ah, if only I'd had your forethought! Actually, I didn't have the money then either thinking about it! I'm excited to get mine up and running, unfortunately Mum didn't get around to getting it sorted today so a man is coming on Monday to do (hurrah!). Toasty warm fireplace on its way!

Hope you manage to get your bathroom sorted soon, although if I remember it's your hallway you're doing first?
