Remix: I ❤ Geeks

I mentioned in my Crisis of Style post that I wanted to learn how to put outfits together, and decided that each outfit I wear should be remixed to create three seperate outfits using the dominant piece as a starting point. My I ❤ Geeks tee from the outfit post of the same title was that piece and here are the two remixes I put together with it. As a reminder, here's the original outfit:

GIRL ABOUT TOWN
This first remix is one I'd be comfortable wandering in to town wearing, do a little food shopping or browse the charity shops. The skirt is a little big and keeps rising up so I think I'll need to wear a belt to keep it in place, and I still have the same problem with the tee being a little small. The shoes are a style I spent months searching and waiting for on eBay before they finally popped up, unfortunately that doesn't make them particularly comfortable and I need to stretch them or soften them somehow to make them a little more flexible (any ideas?). Overall though, I think I like it, despite it being safe and very basic (and that's okay), it's feels feminine but still very me.

MID WEEK DRINKS IN THE CITY
I liked this one when I first put it together, I thought it'd be a good choice for a few casual drinks in the evening or something. I was trying to be a little more adventurous (small steps!) and put together three things I wouldn't normally consider as working as an ensemble. And then I saw the photos; yes, these trousers will be donated the very next time I'm in town and that style avoided unless I'm sure I really fill them - I'm not that much of a pair shape obviously!

Did you spot Puck the Cat in the background? He's a cheeky sod and gets everywhere (as my Instagram feed will currently attest, he's like a crazy little ninja!)

Thanks for stopping by,

Hi Tors,
There is a tute on stretching shoes here:

I haven't tried it but it seems logical. Ilike the denim skirt outfit and am sure it's just a matter of finding the right trousers for an evening look. x

Tors

That is GENIUS!! Thank you for the link, I shall be trying that out on several pairs of shoes I think! And I am continuing my search for nicer trousers as you suggest, I'm sure there's something out there that'll work :)

I love the first photo the most. Looks proper 70s :)

charlotte

I too love the first look, so cool and relaxed!

Ali

I like the 70s look too! :) I've had similar problems with pants, boo.

You know what I would selfishly love? A shoes post! A Tors Greatest Hits. And I want brands, lady, so I can troll eBay in the wee hours. ;) Problem is, it's very hard for me to wear heels, but those wedges. Oh! Those wedges.

(And I know I'm not supposed to comment, but I wanted to thank you for your last post. I hear you. And so do women I love.)

Tors

Hahaha, that's what I liked about it too, still got my vintage on ;)

Tors

Thanks! I definitely felt relaxed and I love the idea I look cool, never quite manage it normally ;)

Tors

Oooh! Great idea, your wish is my command! You'll love the wedges more once I show you the detailing on the heel, betcha!

(And thank you, that means a lot to me)

Wendy

Love your remixes!
I really love natural colour of the trousers with the top and fab wedges, its a shame about the bagginess, though it proves you would definitely suit skinny jeans or some 50's style Capri pants! :)

Tors

Thanks! And Capri pants for the win! I have the Colette Clovers to make (still) so hopefully they'll work out better!

Sølvi

I love the remixes too, I´d love to "borrow" the idea. :-) I am especially smitten with the skirt/tee combo. Very cute with the shoes!

Whenever I have tees that I love, but they somehow have "shrunk in the closet" I pair them with a matching vest/tank top underneath that is a bit longer, this way they don´t act up as much, and I can still wear them.:-)

Tors

Of course you can, feel free to borrow away! :)

Love that, "shrunk in the closet", and that's a great idea, I'll have to remember that. Thanks! x
