Remix: Green

I think I failed miserably at this one, which is okay actually because at least I can see why I failed miserably. Part of it is that I'm still very vanilla in my choices, but then I used to be far worse than I am now so I'm hoping that these posts will show a clear progression over time as my confidence picks up and my wardrobe expands a little. To remind you, I'm remixing the green top, the original outfit looked like this:

CHECKERED FLAG
These trousers are among my favourite. Once again they used to belong to my Mum and are cut to sit at my natural waistline. I like these a lot, again I feel like I have tummy control and they're flatteringly cut. These remixes were really hard for me because of the colour of the top and the lack of anything other than blue in the majority of the clothes I own to dress my bottom half that are weather appropriate. I paired the black and white checked trousers with black and white peep toe heels. I love these heels, unfortunately they don't love me and pinch my toes awfully (which probably means they'll appear in one of my shop my wardrobe posts soon). You can see them a little better in my Ain't She Sweet post, but they'll be popping up in a post on my shoe collection as requested by Ali as soon as I get around to photographing my faves (which'll happen just as soon as I can decide on my faves!).

FRUMPY OLD WOMAN
This was an epic fail, totally the wrong shoes for starters. The skirt is my Colette Ginger, handmade last year I believe but never really blogged about. I wish with both of these looks I'd taken at least one picture with the top tucked in because, although it looked wrong to me, it would be nice to a) have confirmation it doesn't work and b) see the skirt in all it's loveliness. I adore my Ginger (covered in dog hair as it is) but this is definitely not the outfit to showcase it with! And, look, I even have housewife hair!*

I think next time I'll choose the Ginger as my base and make some nice outfits out of that, because I made a damn good job on this skirt if I do say so myself, and it deserves to be shown off much better than the above does!

Thanks for stopping by,

* No disrespect meant towards housewives, you're all doing a bloody good job and I could learn some valuable lessons given how rubbish I am at running a clean and efficient household; I just draw the line at meh hair if I'm wearing a meh outfit!

Oops I must have missed the original post on this but I love the 1st and 2nd outfits, though I'll sound like my mum here...I definitely think you should tuck your top in, I'm sure you would feel less frumpy, and it would show of your waist and the fabulous skirt more too! I am also really looking forward to your shoe post! x

Tors

Hahaha, you're welcome to sound like my Mum any time you feel like it ;) And I'll definitely try to remember to show both ways next time, just in case x

Ali

Goodness your mom had some great pants/trousers! I love the cropped ones, and looking forward to seeing your Ginger again. I know we share this, but my forward belly makes me staunchly anti-tuck and I've always shied away from the Ginger because of the high waist, though there are so many lovely versions out there. :)

Minnado

I love those crpped trousers...I actually quite like the frumpy look, I think there is a fine line between frumpy and a kind of geek-chic-cool-hausfrau look, but this could be a fact that only exists in my head! I did laugh at the previous post when you said the original outfit makes you feel responsible. Do you have an irresponsible outfit to show??

Tors

Yes, she has fabulous style, but is about 2" shorter than me and approximately 5" shorter in the leg so it's a bit hit and miss over what fits me ;)

The Ginger is a weird one for me too, and I think I should've lowered the waistline or something. We'll see when I get my arse in gear and photograph it all!

Tors

Well I suppose someone has to love the frumpy look ;) Although geek-chic-hausfrau could totally be a look and I'd be up for trying to rock it.

I have an outfit for every mood, and character in my head (downside of being a writer, overactive imagination and lots of 'voices'). I've been toying about doing a post about it actually, maybe I should after all!

Krysten @ Why Girls Are Weird

Well I like that skirt anyway, even without the right shoes!

Tors

Why thankee :) I do love it, it fits so nicely! Hopefully with the right shoes it'll look better ;)
